Nanostructured Materials for Energy and Biomedical Applications
Nanostructured materials can be designed with sophisticated features to fulfill the complex requirements of advanced material applications. This talk describes the synthesis of metallic, metal oxide, semiconducting and organic nanoparticles and nanocomposites of controlled size, morphology and architecture. The nanocrystalline building blocks are used to create excellent materials for catalytic, fuel cell and battery applications. We have also designed and functionalized nanostructured materials for drug delivery, nanomedicine, biosensor, cell culture substrate and tissue engineering applications. The unique properties of the various nanostructured materials synthesized will be presented in this lecture.
Modeling and simulation of nanomaterials
With beginning of the third millennium, the emergence of new techniques has made synthesis and construction of matters at nanoscale possible, leading to an extremely rapid rise of the field of nanomaterials science. Today, the electronics industry is the result of advances in nanomaterials research. As electronic devices get smaller, there are increasing challenges in silicon technology. Materials with new scaling properties need to be developed urgently. Indeed, nanomaterials science promises a wide range of novel applications of new perspectives. Therefore, theoretical modeling and computational simulation have advanced as much as the experimental techniques in nanomaterials science. The development ranges from density functional algorithms to mesoscale methods, which enables the pursuit of the characteristic nature of nanomaterials as well as predict and design functional nanomaterials. On the other hand, recent development of parallel processor supercomputers has led to tremendous increase (by a factor of a million) in computational power. These developments together have been creating new opportunities for modeling and simulation of electronic properties of nanomaterials, as well as for designing novel nanoelectronic devices.
NANOTECHNOLOGY represents the 21st century’s most prominent area in the area of science, engineering, medicine, agriculture and management. The challenges brought novel elements based on nanoparticles, nanomaterials, natural materials and green nanotechnology need to be addressed in this conference. It will be a very important event hosted by SIATS. It represents the liaison and integration of theoretical and experimental researches. Its aspects are very important for nanoscience and engineering where high performance, high functionality and low cost are required. There are new-generation elements to accurately transfer other functionalities, such as electronic, electrical, thermal and optical properties, engineering, renewable energies and technology management on the micro- and nano-scale. The community will be benefited enormously over the years through this meeting to understand the principles and applications. It will tackle the issues of the advent of novel materials, structures and applications through a significant worldwide event. The conference will be based on invited speakers, oral presentations and posters. The oral participation has 15 minutes including 5 min. of Q&A and poster dimension is 90 cm x 150 cm (maximum). Selected papers will be published in Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Nanotechnology Specialized Researches (indexed by Scopus).
